This decision was recently announced in the 2023-2024 state budget. Nagpur’s current stamp duty and registration fees remain at 7 percent for male homebuyers and 6 percent for female property owners.

1 April 2022: The Maharashtra government announced that from 1 April 2022, 1 percent metro interest will be levied on stamp duty and housing registration in Nagpur, Mumbai and Pune. Expanding the transport infrastructure of these cities will incur additional costs. The new stamp duty will be 7% of the property value.

1st September 2020: In order to stimulate the real estate market, the Maharashtra Government has announced a 3% reduction in stamp duty from 1st September 2020 to 31st December 2020. The stamp duty exemption amount will be further revised and reduced by 2% from 1 January 2021 to 31 March 2021. At the end of the prescribed period, the stamp duty will be reset to the previous rate.

Stamp duty and registration charges in Nagpur

Nagpur stamp duty and registration fee will be 7% from 1 April 2022. Previously, the stamp duty charged was 5.5%, which included a 0.5% rebate by the Nagpur Infrastructure Trust (NIT). However, in January 2020, the NIT taxation was abolished and the stamp duty was reduced to 5%.
